They said I'd never amount to anything. That I was nothing but a ghetto rat, and never reach any of my dreams. There I was a female felon rotting in the nauseating stench of a state prison. I can still hear the symphony of metallic clangs and cat calls in my head today. I knew right then and there I had to turn my life around I would become a successful author and one of the leading Latina authors of all time.
I've written Touch Me in the Morning, Oh No You Didn't and Slap Me. In fact Carla, they call me the Latina Terry Woods and my books the Latina Coldest Winter Ever. 3 books later and thousands of books sold, I'm now ready to work with a mainstream publisher and agent to take my career to the next level.
My characters come out of the street life winners. They don't allow themselves to be fooled by the glamour of the game. I've lived the life they lived, I've experienced the lowest of lows and I've turned my life around. That's why so many readers say they can identify with my stories. I'm not talking around the problem, like an outsider looking in, I've been there. I know what they're going through and I know where I am today.
I have strong relationships with many Essence Bestselling Authors who have all agreed to provide blurbs for my next novel. I have hand-sold thousands of books to urban readers on my vending tables through the Bronx and the rest of New York City. I've sold over 10,000 of my own books in a year, just from hand selling so I know with the right team I can do so much better.
Tough and gritty, my books speak of an honest portrayal of life as a Latino in the United States. I'm requested all over the country for signings and work hand-in-hand with some of the leading African American book distributors in the country.
My latest book, takes place in the Bronx; an area I know well and I'd love to share it with you if you're interested.
