What are you telling the universe by the way that you dress? Now, there is nothing wrong with dressing like a homeboy, like a thug if that is what you want to come across, a homeboy, a thug and they are saying, "That's good. God bless you." And that is what you want but you are only going to go back what you put out there. So, if you want to be treated with respect and you are proud of your heritage and who you are and your ethnic background and your neighborhood and your family, then you need to dress like that. So, if you want to dress like a slob, you are going to be treated like slob. Oh, sure you want to feel comfortable so you dress in your gym clothes and what not but still remember you are going to be reflected and going to be treated like that so the way that you are must be reflected and you might have remember that the universe will show you and reflect back to you what you put out there. So, what are your actions showing the universe when you dress like someone like a slob. You are saying, "You know what? I am a slob and I'm going to be treated like a slob and it is okay and I didn't comb my hair today and I didn't take a shower and I smell bad but that's ok." And that is what you are showing the universe and the universe says, "Ok. I got you. Let me just reflect that back to you." But when you clean up and you take a shower and dress nice and dress nice and dress comfortable and dress in a colors and whatever, they will reflect to your eyes and what not; the universe says, "Ok. You're looking sharp. Let me just give you some sharp results." When you are showing the universe through your actions that you deserve respect, it is going to reflect in your clothes. It is going to reflect in the music you choose to listen to. Does that mean you switch from listening to rap music to classical? No, it means you need to start putting out there to the universe what you want. It means you need to start showing the universe, "This is the world that I am. This is the world that I live in. This is the world that I expect back from the universe and I'm not saying it just through my words because I was like talking to the whole world. It does not listen anymore for there is no world anymore but through my actions, that is what I'm going to show the universe. That is what I'm going to show you, universe. That is what I'm going to show you, universe."

RichWriters Inspiration: Writers Dressing for Success
RichWriters Inspiration: Rich Writer vs. Poor Writer
Let us talk about being poor. There is a difference between being poor and acting poor. You can have pennies to your name, pennies and act like you have a million bucks. It is all about the mindset. You know what really matters because if you have a roof over your head and something to eat, that is really all that matters. And if you continue to feel weak because you do not have as much as somebody else, you are choosing to feel that way and why? Because your value; you are so much more than that job that you have. You are so much more than that cheap little apartment you have, that you are living in. You are so much more than that. Your value is not determined by what you have and what you wear. Your value is determined on who you are and that is what matters. So if you say to yourself, "Oh, I am poor." The universe says, "You are? Okay. Do you know why I believe you," the universe just says, because you are acting like it, because you are dressing like it, because you are stressing out like it. But if you start acting differently and you say to yourself, "You know what? I am not going to buy the cheap cereals. I am going to buy that cereal that I want to buy. I am going to show the universe." And I am not going to be thinking, "Oh my God, I could have spent it to some butter and I can buy two more loaves of bread for the price of the cereal." No. I am not going to do that. I am going to show the universe I am going to buy the cereal because I like the cereal. I like my crunchy corn flakes and yes it cost $4 more than the normal corn flakes but that is the best kind and it tastes good. I am not going to buy it because I want to prove anything. I am going to buy it because I want it and I am not going to stress about money. I am not poor and I never have been poor. I am Jeff Rivera, I am Shelley Winters, I am Marilyn Monroe, I am Joe Fish, I am Bobby Thornberry, whatever. That is who I am. I am not and never will be poor. I am who I am and that determines my value. Not some label that somebody places on me and I will not allow myself to associate with people who think that they are poor nor will I allow myself to associate with people who think that I am poor. I choose to associate myself with people who feel free, who do not stress or think about money, who are not penny pinchers and scrounging every little penny. I chose to be around people who think in abundance because that feels better, and that is what you are really accomplishing anyway. You are trying to feel better about yourself and that is what really matters. So be around people who also feel the same way and if that means having one friend instead of a hundred, it is better to have one quality friend than have 100 bad friends. Think about that. I am not nor will I ever be poor. I am rich. I am Jeff Rivera, I am Marilyn Monroe, I am Bobby Turner, I am Richard…whatever; that is who I am. I am, answer your name. That is who I am and I, only I, determine who I am nobody else."
RichWriters Inspiration: Writers' Bad Relationships
Have you ever spent a really long time in a bad relationship? I know that I have and you know what, you ask yourself years later, "What in the world was I thinking?" And you know during that time you would not leave that person because you felt sorry for them. I know, I certainly did. And you wonder why did you put up with that. Again, it goes back to this, what are you showing the universe? You say to the universe, "I can't stand this person. She is driving me crazy. He's driving me crazy. I don't like it. I don't like the way they treat me." But you know what? Yes, you do. You do like the way they treat you. You do like the way that they have treated you that always, all the time and you know why I know that, because if you really want something different, you would have moved on. No, you are showing the universe that you do like it. Remember we turn ourselves on mute. What we say does not mean anything to the universe, what we do does, how we feel does. So you are showing the universe that, "Yes, I want more of that. Yes, I love this. I love being treated like this because I'm staying with this person just because I choose to feel sorry for them." No, you are more important. At the end of the day, your happiness is what matters because the whole reason why you want that person to behave is that you feel happy because when they behave, it is finally you can go, "Whew! Finally I'm relieved. Finally, I feel good." Now, that is the reason why you want to behave so that you feel happy. So when you say to the universe, "I want a better life," but you act differently, the universe only responds to the way that you are acting. So if you are in a bad relationship, you need to ask yourself, "Do I deserve to be better? Because if my actions are showing me and my column here that I want to be treated badly, that I deserve to be talked to that way, that I deserve to have somebody who is out there partying at night when he should be or she should be spending time with me, if you show the universe that, the universe says, "Okay, sure, you want more? You got it." But when you show on the other column, in column number two where you should be doing and you are showing the universe that, "No, I will not put up with this. This is not acceptable, I don't care how much of a guilt trip they give me, I don't care if they yell and scream, I don't care whatever threats they make. It doesn't matter. My happiness is important. My happiness is just as important as their happiness. And you show the universe, "Look, I will not put up with this anymore. Not in my words, not in my so many little words but through my actions." And I say, "You know what? Some people will get into a situation where they will say all these certain things, "I'm not putting up with this anymore…blah blah blah," but their actions are different and you are teaching your partner up, she is just going to continue going on and on and telling you all these things but she will cool off and/or give her a guilt trip and then she will come running back because she always does. That is what you are showing the universe. You have to look at yourself and say to yourself; look in the mirror and say, "I deserve the best. I deserve the best in this world and I'm going to show you, universe, I'm going to show you I deserve the best because I'm getting out of the situation and if it means me living on a couch on a friend's house for two months in order to get enough money together to do what I need to do, if it means me being in a homeless shelter, I'd rather be in a homeless shelter and treat myself right than be in a 400 room mansion and treated like crap. I'd rather do that because I deserve self-respect and I want to feel good about myself and I'm not allowing this person to take my power because I'm not giving it to him." And let me tell you something. If you feel pressure and someone is trying to pressure you into doing something that means they do not have any power. That means you have the power because you have what they want. They want you to do what they want and if you do not do what they want, they have actually no power. All that can pressure you, that can hit you, that can scrimmage you, that can do all of different things, but that is because you have what they want. You have to think that means you have the power. You have the choice to either give them what they want or if they do not that means you hold the purse. Keep that in mind. If you want to be in a bad relationship, continue doing so. What you show the universe is only going to give you more so you need to take control of your life. You need to take a look at your life and say to myself, "Do I want this bad relationship? Because if I don't I need to start showing the universe that I don't. I need to start making preparations. I needed not to sabotage myself. I need to get out of the situation. I need to set the ground rules. I need to say to myself, listen to me, self listen to me, I deserve the best and you know what partner? You know what lover? You know what boyfriend or girlfriend or wife, you know what, husband; let me tell you something, this is not acceptable. I am showing you through my actions it is not acceptable. You don't like it? Too bad and I will not, through my actions, allow myself to feel guilty for moving on in my life," because you know what? They are grown person. That is a grown ass man. That is a grown ass woman and she can take care of herself and he can take care of himself and they do not need me. I need me and it is more important for me to feel good about myself and feel happy to spend years and years in my life feeling miserable just to make sure that person feels happy. You deserve the best. Show that to the universe and the universe will show that to you.
RichWriters Inspiration: Writers Bad Choices
Everybody has to make choices in their life that they wish they had it in the past. I think back to things that I did when I was a teenager or when I was in my early or even mid 20s. Choices I made that I would never make again but in that moment, I felt like the right thing. You cannot continue to feel bad about things that you have done in the past. There is no reason for that. There is absolutely no reason to beat yourself up about some choices you made and maybe in the past you hurt somebody deeply and you have apologized to them but for whatever reason, they want nothing to do with you. For whatever reason, they have not forgiven you or in that way, they have moved on. But let me tell you something, there is no good that will come out of feeling miserable. There is no reason to continue to beat yourself up about feeling bad about something that you have done. It is not going to help the situation and certainly is not going to lift things up because sometimes people do that to punish themselves, to really justify what they did. They feel like, "Ok. Well, the choice I made was a really, really bad choice so if I think about it, I dwell about it enough, then maybe then it will go away." But that is not what happens obviously. You have to let go. You have to forgive yourself for what you did because what you did ten years from now is not going to matter. How you reason now is not going to matter. When you body has deceased and gone, it is not going to matter and it should not matter today. You have made your choice. You made your mistake. You apologized. You rectified. You apologized and forgave yourself and that is all that you need to do. You cannot continue to beat yourself up because it is not going to help anything at all, not at all. We have all made choices that we would not make again. We have all hurt people in the past, I certainly have. It is not intentionally by any means, but I have an accident where I choose to do at that time and I know that I would not make those choices again. Now, if someone does not want to forgive you that is their problem. But the whole reason why you want them to forgive you is that you feel good, right? So why not feel good now? Why give them the power to decide whether or not you are going to feel good? You cannot do…well I was taught by one of the great teachers of the secret, you cannot put your own life on hold. You cannot say, "Okay, I'm going to be happy. I'm going to forgive myself when this person has forgiven me. I'm going to feel really great about myself when I buy this house. I am going to feel really great as soon as I leave this damn job." No. Do not put your whole happiness on hold. Feel happy now. That is what important. Do not allow this person or these people to take your power. Do not hand over your power to them and allow them to decide whether or not you are going to be happy just because they choose or choose not to forgive you. You have a choice. You have the power to choose to feel good or to feel bad. It is your choice.
