|Good Morning Samantha:|
My name is William. I am homeless, raising five children alone. Growing up in a projects in Portland, I have taken my experiences of street life, gangs, violence, abuse, etc., and utilized them to help kids identify life's complexities at an early age so they can lead productive lives.
When twelve-year-old Tyra Winters witnesses a war among faries spill onto earth and kill her mother, she faces more than proving she is not insane. In Freezing Fire, a middle grade fantasy adventure, Tyra's life is shattered by a world of faeries she never believed existed. After failing to convince her father the circumstances surrounding her mother's death, she begins to doubt her own sanity. Now realizing she will have to bring her mother's killer to justice, to prove she is not going insane, she sets out to find the killer and discovers it was not her mother they wanted; it was her.
After twenty-four years of counseling, mentoring, and coaching children, ages seven to sixteen, Jeff, I have learned the best way to reach children with the problems they face in today's society is through another child's experiences. Tyra Hunter helps them identify, learn, and understand problems such as: gangs, violence, abuse, crime, poverty, discrimination, and what they can do to help absolve these issues at an early age.
